日本代表
ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ戦
日本代表は2月28日にドイツのドルトムントでボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナと国際親善試合を行い、2-2で引き分けた。前半終了間際にドイツのハンブルガーSVでプレーするFW高原のゴールで先制するも、後半に入ると守備陣に乱れが出だし、PK献上とGKのミスから2失点を喫する。しかし、敗戦濃厚だった後半ロスタイムにMF中田英寿のゴールで追いつき、日本は辛くも引き分けに持ち込むことに成功した。
ちなみに、日本の得点はいずれもMF中村俊輔のアシスト。一方のボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナの得点では、1点目のPK奪取、2点目を生み出したシュート共に、高原の同僚であるハンブルガーSVのMFバルバレスが絡んでいる。日本から見れば失点の形が悔やまれるところだが、全体的には両司令塔の存在感が浮き彫りになった試合となった。
対戦相手となったボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナは旧ユーゴスラビアから分離独立した国の一つ。旧ユーゴスラビアはジャイッチ、ストイコビッチ、サビチェビッチら多くのスター選手を輩出し、W杯本大会出場9回、五輪出場11回を誇った強国で、その実力は欧州でも高いレベルにあった。ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナは、地理的に今回のW杯本大会にも名を連ねているセルビア・モンテネグロ、クロアチアのちょうど間に位置し、実力的には旧ユーゴスラビアの中でその2ヶ国に次ぐ3番手だと考えられる。
現在の同国代表はバルバレス、サリハミジッチといった一流選手を擁し、随所にテクニックとフィジカルを兼ね備えた選手を揃える有力チーム。独立して年月が浅いため目立った実績はないが、2006年W杯予選ではセルビア・モンテネグロ、スペイン、ベルギーらのいる厳しい組へ入りながら、彼らとほぼ互角の熱戦を繰り広げ、3位になった。
今回、ドイツでボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナと対戦した日本代表だが、中立地での開催とはいえ、移動距離・時間を考慮すればこれはアウェイに等しい。とりわけ遠征に不慣れな国内選手にはハードな日程であった。親善試合なので相手にW杯予選ほどの意欲はないはずだし、数人のベテラン選手が欠けていたことも事実だが、すでに欧州はユーロ2008の予選組み分けを発表していて、それなりのモチベーションを持って試合に臨んでいたであろうことも確かである。
こういった面から判断すると、日本にとってW杯本大会へ向けた貴重な強化試合となったといえるのではなかろうか。
