日本代表
フィンランド戦
日本代表は2月18日、静岡スタジアムで行われたキリンチャレンジカップ2006でフィンランド代表と対戦し、2-0の勝利を飾った。後半3分にMF小笠原の低いクロスをゴール前でFW久保が合わせ先制。すると後半12分に今度は小笠原が見事な超ロングシュートを決めて日本代表の2006年初勝利に花を添えた。
日本代表は10日の米国戦で試用した3-6-1から慣れ親しんだ3-5-2へフォーメーションを変更。ツートップの一角に巻誠一郎が入っている。また、左サイドMFに三都主ではなく村井が起用されるなどの変化があった。
日本はホームの利を生かし、運動量の少ないフィンランド相手に攻勢を仕掛けた。決定機こそ多くはなかったが、逆に危ない場面も少なく、全体的に安定した試合運びを進めていたといえる。加地と村井の両ウィングバックはサイドを抉り、小野や小笠原もよくボールに絡んだ。久保と小笠原のゴールはいずれも美しいもので、とりわけ後者は57メートル弾というのだからスーパーゴールの部類に入る。
フィンランドが北欧のチームということもあり、対戦前の日本は“高さ”を想定していたと思われるが、残念ながら2006年のW杯本大会で同組となったクロアチアやオーストラリアと比較すると物足りない相手だったといえるだろう。"高さ”的にも“技術”的にもランクが落ちるチームであった。それでも2点差しか付かなかったのは日本の詰めの甘さとも欧州の層の厚さとも考えられる。
具体的には、FW陣がもう1ゴール入れていれば文句のない試合だったはず。こちらは欧州組を揃えられていないのだから、相手が若手主体であるのも仕方ない。この時期のアウェイ戦であることを考慮すれば、フィンランドのコンディションが整っていなかったというのも納得できる。盛り上がりに欠ける試合ではあったが、無失点に抑えられたことは評価されるべきだろう。
現代表のエースFWと目される久保が、怪我明けの復活ゴールで健在をアピールした。日本の大切な宝の一つである小笠原が、素晴らしいゴールでその実力を披露した。狭い日本の中から溢れ出しそうな二つの偉大な才能は、来る6月にドイツで世界へ羽ばたく機会を窺っている。
