ユーロ2008予選組み分け
1月27日にスイスのモントルーで、2008年に開催される欧州選手権の予選の組み合わせ抽選会が行われた。開催国のオーストリアとスイスは予選免除。予選に参加する50ヶ国は7つのグループ（グループAは8ヶ国、B～Gは7ヶ国ずつ）に振り分けられ、各グループの上位2チームが本大会の出場権を獲得する。予選は2006年9月から2007年11月まで開催される。組み分けは以下の通りで、表示はシード順。
<グループA>
ポルトガル、ポーランド、セルビア・モンテネグロ、ベルギー、フィンランド、アルメニア、アゼルバイジャン、カザフスタン
<グループB>
フランス、イタリア、ウクライナ、スコットランド、リトアニア、グルジア、フェロー諸島
<グループC>
ギリシャ、トルコ、ノルウェー、ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ、ハンガリー、モルドバ、マルタ
<グループD>
チェコ共和国、ドイツ、スロバキア、アイルランド、ウェールズ、キプロス、サンマリノ
<グループE>
イングランド、クロアチア、ロシア、イスラエル、エストニア、マケドニア、アンドラ
<グループF>
スウェーデン、スペイン、デンマーク、ラトビア、アイスランド、北アイルランド、リヒテンシュタイン
<グループG>
オランダ、ルーマニア、ブルガリア、スロベニア、アルバニア、ベラルーシ、ルクセンブルク
強国の多い欧州地区の予選だけあって、いくつか厳しい組み分けが見受けられる。オーストリア、スイスの2ヶ国が共同開催するため、最初から2枠削られているというのも影響しているのだろう。グループA、Bには、それぞれ今回のW杯ドイツ大会出場チームが3つずつ組み込まれている。当然だが、そのうち各2チームしか欧州選手権には出場できない。また、グループFには前回のユーロ2004で予選を勝ち抜いた国が4つ（スウェーデン、スペイン、デンマーク、ラトビア）も同居することとなった。
